How to decide which Food Defence course to choose:

With the release of the BRCGS V9, there is a requirement for the whole VACCP/TACCP team to be trained on the principles of food defence and also your site-specific risk assessments.  As we have a couple of options for you, it can be difficult for you to decide which course is best for your team, so here is a quick run down of what each Food Defence course covers and how to choose.

Both of our courses comply with the new BRCGS requirements for food fraud and food defence, however, each one is aimed at a different level of candidate. Have a look below at what each course will deliver:

Food Defence: Getting Started (VACCP/TACCP)

This Food Defence course is ideal for those new to Food Defence or for those who require formal training in the principles of Food Defence.

Course content:

  • First principles: the meaning & scope of food defence
  • Overview of the requirements of BRCGS V9 in relation to Food Defence
  • Preparing for your assessments
  • Preparing your own raw material vulnerability assessment (VACCP)
  • Preparing your own product vulnerability assessment (TACCP)
  • Effective verification of your mitigations
  • Developing a site-wide mindset
  • Maintaining your systems & managing change

Available as an in-house course for groups of up to 12 (delivered either Face-to-Face on-site or as a Live Online course with a remote trainer), or individuals on our open course (Live Online only).

Food Defence: Refresher (VACCP/TACCP)

This Food Defence course is ideal for those who have experience in Food Defence, but want a refresher on the principles, and to make their risk assessment more robust.  To attend this course, you don’t need to have any formal training in Food Defence, but experience in Food Defence is necessary.

Course content:

  • A reminder of the need for Food Defence
  • Overview of the requirements of BRCGS V9 in relation to Food Defence
  • Key points when assessing raw material vulnerability
  • Key points when assessing product vulnerability
  • Critiquing a Food Defence plan
  • Challenging your current Food Defence plan
  • Effective verification of mitigations
  • Spreading the Food Defence message and mindset
  • Key points of managing change
